I am looking to buy a 2001 Mustang 2070. Are these machines reliable? Is there anything specifically I should look out for? Would you encourage someone to buy a Mustang or discourage?

I guess you get good and bad machines with any brand. I have never heard of anything bad about that model. Just ensure you have a good dealer close by and that the engine and hydrostatics/hydraulics are in good shape.

Thanks for the reply. How can I tell if the engine and hydraulics are in good shape?

The best you can do for the engine is to start it from being ice cold. Put your hand on it to ensure it was not warmed up my the owner. Start it and see how easily it fires up and how fast the smoke clears up. It should be only a few seconds.
Hydraulics, push the machine into a pile of dirt or a tree, you should be able to get the wheels spinning. They may squeel a bit when doing this, its normal. The hydraulics should not squeel when lifting or tilting the bucket.

I have a Mustang 2054, good engine, good hydraulics. The electrical system is very unreliable. The controls are excessively complex, my control cable rod ends failed at 600 hours. If I had it to do over, I think I would stay away from Mustang and lean toward Bobcat.
