909 backhoe on an 863 bobcat

I got a good deal on a 909 backhoe but had to cut the tabs off of the bobtach mount and the trailer hitches.

Here is the setup as it sits. I still need to creat the replacement for the trailer hitches.

I have another issue in that the thumb control on the drive levers must be engaged or the backhoe will not operate. shouldn't there be a setting that supplies power to the unit when out of the drivers seat?

Thanks, Tazza, for the info on the trigger. That worked and I can run the hydraulics without holding the thumb switch.
I made a drag link to replace the trailer hitches. This is the first attempt. I may have to beef it up a bit or try something else if it doesn't work.

Pretty sure you will need more beef then that, There is a lot of force away and towards the machine on those arms as you dig. Back as you try to get the bucket in the ground and forward as you try to rip rocks stumps and tough dirt out. There is a reason they make the arms that big. On most or the 909 the 2" trailer coupler on the back of the arms had the balls pulled right through it. Also a good solid connection to the frame saves your loader boom pins.

Thanks, Skidsteer.Ca. As I said, this is the first attempt. I can always grind these off and start over if it falls appart. I'm thinking of adding pieces of iron to the sides of the link to make kind of "I" beams out of them. It does look a little weak sitting next to the nub of the trailer hitch.

Well, I got 'er done! The links turned out OK and as long as I know they are the "weak link" in the system and not get too carried away, it should last a while. I'll be watching the pins to see if they start to bend. It is strong enough to pull the bobcat around by pulling on the bucket. Here are some pics of the final project.
