My 763 starts and runs perfectly. After starting and pushing the activation button the familiar clunk is heard and everything lights up. Within a minute, whether at idle or in use the valve light goes out and flashes 3 times usually followed by the traction light. All the other lights on the BICS stay lit. I've checked the wiring, the grounds, the alternator(charges at 14.25 volts.). 5 years ago I replaced the brake solenoid and the alternator and it worked great until recently. Started intermittently, now constant. Any advice?

I'd possibly look at your valve lock solenoid. It may be shorted out and working for a short time then stopping, this will lock you out of your lift and tilt functions.

The service manual says when the valve light flashes 3 times it means the valve output is shorted to ground. If the traction light is flashing 3 times it says the same thing. I'd look for a rubbed spot in the wiring harness and check the battery ground.

Thanks for the reply. I've checked all grounds and replaced the tilt valve solenoid and the 2 auxiliary solenoids. I've inspected the wiring harness and connections. Everything seems ok. Output from the alternator is 14.25 volts, so I think that's ok, unless it is sporadically overcharging. I've heard this can be a problem. Any other guesses??

The valve the light is referring to is the BICS valve. It's the solenoid that's mounted to the control valve.

Thanks Oldmachinest, The serial # of my machine is 512219382. I have the service manual and the machine doesn't have a BICS valve on the control valve as shown on page 2-23. According to the service manual it has a control valve starting at page 2-57 and a tilt lock valve starting on page 2-107. I've replaced both aux solenoids on the control valve and the solenoid on the tilt lock valve, I've removed, cleaned and re-attached all the ground connections. I'm going to bring the BICS control in to have it tested before I invest in one. any other ideas I might try would be appreciated.

I would recommend checking the harness from the solenoid back to the BICS control valve. It is probably rubbed through in a dark corner somewhere.

Forgive my confusion. I appreciate all the help from everyone. I don't have a BICS control valve(or at least not one that looks like the one in the manual). The serial # of the machine is 512219382. You said "check the harness from the solenoid back to the BICS control valve". Which solenoid to what valve? I have the 2 auxiliary solenoids on the control valve and 1 solenoid on the tilt lock valve (all have been replaced). I can't locate any other solenoids on valves in the system????? According to the manual the BICS valve is for machines with serial #'s 512220298 and above. That counts me out. I'm going to pull the harness and thoroughly inspect it. I've inspected it in place and haven't found anything. I'm also bringing the BICS controller in to have it checked.

Where do I find the "valve lock solenoid"? If it is on the Tilt lock valve then I've replaced it.
