I started tearing into my new project this evening and discovered the the bell housing appears to be shared with what I assume is the Main drive pump as well as a small pulley that drives the fan for the rad and hyd. oil cooler. Must I remove the entire assembly or can I remove the flywheel and unbolt the engine from the bell housing (which seems to be the easier route)? I must say I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the engine harness was a snap to remove from the rest or the machine unlike most vehicles I;m used to working on. Thanks Steve

Personally i'd remove the engine and pump as one, access is tight trying to pull just the engine, i'm not saying it can't be done, but 4 engine mounts, 6 or so hydraulic lines and its out!
You can then give it a real good clean when its all out of the machine.

I would prefer pulling everything but I dont have enough clearance to lift the cab. . . I may end up fabbing some wheel skates

The best way is to lift the cab and remove the fan assembly by the 4 bolts that hold it to the upper frame. With it gone you have plenty of access to the engine area. It is not necessary to lift the cab to remove the engine once it is unbolted. You can unbolt the belt/bellhousing from the hydraulic pump but you would also have to remove the pulley to free it from the engine assembly. Best bet is to pull it all out. You can do it without the special lifting fixture, by sliding the engine out on wood.
