i have a 97 763. it drives just fine forward and reverse but when you stop going forward and quick go backward still moving straight the left side drive has a weird skip or studder. its like when you double clutch a car. grab release grab release real quick three to four times. very annoying. anyone have any ideas? thanks!!

I wonder if the shuttle valve is not working properly in the motor. Does it make this noise when you push against a tree and get the wheels turning? i'm wondering if the chain could possibly be skipping teeth.

Not really a noise you can just feel it in the sticks. doesn't do it pushing into a dirt pile and letting wheels spin.

Same thing happens in my 7753. Usually when starting to back up slowly from a stop, the left side shudders or jerks a bit. I've gotten used to it, but it isn't right. It almost feels like slack being taken up in the drive chain or something.

Its possible its a pump issue too, it could be the piston shoes lifting off the swash plate. I know my 743 does this some times if i drop my arms too fast and move, the charge pressure drops and you can feel something thats like a bite on the control sticks. You can feel it grab and pull, i'm only guessing your issue may be close to that. I have never had that on a newer machine like yours though.

could it be like a hesitation before it moves and when it moves it hammers into motion hard and sometimes like it starts to go , stops , then goes , like it's studdering , that could be a oring blew in the travel motor

The motors are pretty easy to get out. 4 bolts, 3 hoses. Remove the hoses and the 4 main bolts to the motor carrier and it should pull free. The shaft between the two will stay in the motor. Its rather heavy, so be caueful you don't under estimate its weight and let it fall or squash a finger.

i tightened up the drive linkage and replaced two front rubber bushings and that fixed it. very easy fix very lucky
