Make sure you bleed the fuel system, open the screw on the injector pump and squeeze the hand primer. CLose the screw and see if it starts better.The machine refused to start in the middle of a project over week ago. I think the starter burned up because it was so hot and doing what it did before the first rebuild. The mech. said he'd get it rebuilt for me again. So he did that and put it in and cranked real fast like it should but just wouldn't start...so close but just wouldn't fire up. Then it did with a squirt of ether. It idled about 30 min. then I shut it off and restarted it twice instantly, without preheat-even though it was warm out. Before, even when warm from running it still required some preheat... I'm horrible with motors so I told him to do/check whatever could be possible problems. The batt was fine & he said he'd replace the fuel filter monday. I found him out there cussing the design of the filter changing it out...which kind of gets me worried since he's very soft-spoken. When I got back and looked at it there was fuel leaking out all over and that glass piece had broken. He hadn't realized it but had tried to start it and not realized whether pressure broke it or what-and didn't bother to look I guess. So 3 days to get that part..after market metal...he's paying for it of course. He felt really bad about all this and is getting frustrated too on why its acting like this. So this is causing me a lot of aggravation because it'll be down over 2 weeks and is costing me $!! I just felt like venting so thanks for listening. It's been such a good machine but I really hope this solves why it's so hard starting.
It should never need ether to start, glow plugs should be enough..... Are they getting power?
