After running a short time there is diesel in oil crankcase.
I am hearing fuel pump, is there more than one on them? which one would be causing it?

really there is 3,a primer ball a lift pump and a injector pump, the lift pump should be the one to look at,as it has a diaphram that could be leaking. Some have left the mechanical pump in place and added a electric pump, so you need to check the plumbing of the fuel system to confirm what is being used ,machines that old get modified, sometimes not the best way.

From the rear (after you open the rear "hatch"), the lift pump is on the left side of the engine.... easy access. Look for fuel hose going into it (from the filter, which is on the right side of the engine compartment... you can "trace" this hose) and out of it, up to the injection pump. I belive that this pump bolts into the engine with a couple of bolts and has a little arm that sticks into the engine block that is activated by a cam as the engine rotates.

If you have a replacement in hand, you can complete this task in less than 1/2 an hour... but take this opportunity to inspect the fuel hose, and perhaps to change the fuel Filter.....good luck.

I have installed electric pumps in place of the mechanical pumps to get the unit going the, key point is to bypass the mechanical pump with the electric pump, nice part you don't have to hand prime the system, if the problem of fuel in the oil goes away you know it was in the mechanical pump, if you still have a problem with diesel in the oil the seal on the injector pump is the next place the diesel can get in the engine and you would need it rebuilt, I have no idea what that would cost, I have seen kubota engins with 12,000 hours with no issues on the injector pumps just the mechanical pumps going bad.

Here is the pump I have installed on my 743 and on my 38 hp Yanmar sailboat engine. Available from Amazon for $66.14. Mine is mounted to the left of the motor, on the engine compartment bottom, directly below the injector pump. Works well for me. Good luck!

Facet FEP304SV Posi-Flo 12 volt Fuel Pump Kit, 1/8 NPT Ports, 1 to 2 psi Maximum Pressure

If the in and out hoses are long enough leave them connected, unbolt the pump and pump it by hand to see if fuel comes out around the the lever that was towards the engine. You should not see any fuel here.
