Yes they are both different. One has threaded tabs for the allen bolts to screw into, the other does not. When you remove them, you will see they are slightly different.
Notice where the grease zerk is, some are in the middle cross and some are out on a end cap which makes it easier to grease in the future.
The u-joints for a 642B are Precision U-Joint 994 (PRE-994) and Precision U-Joint 952 (PRE-952). I bought mine from Woody's Auto Supply online. They're about $45 each. I think the 743 uses the same U-joints.

Unfortunately, I can't call, therefore have written the letter in Loader Parts Source but while there is no answer. Somebody from Loader Parts Source can will read this branch of a forum. Question: whether there is a second spider and where there is a greasing place.
Have you checked with Bobcat for parts? To get what I wanted for the 632 I had to go to Bobcat , theirs were a little higher but not much and they greased on the end cap.
My the nearest in 350 km and not so (I so have understood) wants to potter with old cheap spare parts.
