I purchase the Bobcat tank heater for my 743 and the the instructions call for the removal of the coolant inspection plug on the top of the head and install the hose adapter. I removed the plug (short one with machine threads) and then compared that to the threads on the hose adapter packaged in the box from Bobact. The threads on the adapter from Bobcat are NPT not machine and the diameter of the adapter is slightly smaller than the plug. Should the package that comes with the tank heater included two adapters? Has anyone else had this issue? Have I missed something really stupid? Thanks in advance for the help.

Just one update to my post. The Bobcat dealer sold me kit 6647888.

I am not sure if this will help. One guy talks about the installation of the bobcat unit.

I have installed an aftermarket tank style coolant Kats heater into my 743. I bet its similar.I pulled the drain in the lower part of the block and put in a threaded 5/8" NPT barb. It goes directly into the heater. The heater must be mounted vertically or it will burn up. I found this out by calling the manufacturer directly. I made a "Y" fitting out of a 1/2" nylon tee to replace the waterpump bypass hose. I heated the tee a bit to bend it to get the angle a little closer, otherwise the hoses would bend at sharp angles. Then I used a reducing barb fitting that went from 1/2 to 5/8" into the top of the coolant heater. I hope this helps.
