I have been trying to restore the 743 for about month or so and I am replacing all the hydraulic lines that cross between the engine and pump. 2 of the lines termininate and are plugged in the left side of the engine compartment. What could these aux lines be used for? How would they be operated? -Richard

Do you have aux hydraulic connectors on the boom of your machine? If so, they could be for rear hydraulic stabilisers that are sometimes fitted when a backhoe attachment is used.

i think my 643 has these too....how would you activate them, with the left stick?

Looking from the back, if they are on the left they are indeed the rear aux hydraulic connections. You use the left stick, but you need a kit to work them. The dealer supplies a push/pull cable for this, it connects to the unused segment of the control block and back to the left stick. I'd hate to know what they charge. I one or two of these cables at home. They were never used on previous machines, so i pulled them out and locked up the left sticks.

did most machines come equipped for this? i thought mine had it, now i'm not sure. can you see it from the rear door or with the cab up? also, a friend has a 1995 753 with rear stabilizers. would these fit my 643? he might be willing to sell...

The early ones i think mostly had them.
I think the stabilizer legs are pretty much the same, the diverting controls are different though.

his move one at a time, i assume the older ones are probably both at the same time, right?
Can he control them one at a time? I'm thinking that one side may be stiffer than the other causing the easy to move one to go down and come up first.

i thought so, maybe i'm wrong. how do you level the machine then? kinda defeats the purpose. if they both go with the same switch

I don't know just how much they are there to level it, it's mostly there to give you extra support. I find without the real stabilizers you don't have as much down pressure that you can apply.
I'd be intersted if they could be controlled one at a time. I know it could be done with a diverter.

i used it last year, i'm not 100% sure. it's a 95 753. not the triggers on the joysticks, but the switches on the top of each. i may be wrong, but the right lifted the right, the left lifted the left (obviously haha)

i don't see any unused lines, could the control block just be capped? i really wanted to used the stabilizers but now i don't think i can.

It is possible it's capped off at the control block too. Lift the cab and ensure your control block has 4 segments. If it only has three, you don't have the ability to use it without some work.

i lifted the cab, (looking at the front of the machine) in the left side rear i see a white block which i assume is it. there are three white things facing the front of the machine, not 4....so i assume i am SOL....

could i get some sort of 12v electric valve with a toggle switch in the cab to switch between front/rear?

A 12v diverter valve would sure do the job. Just hook it to your aux hydraulics.
http://www.surpluscenter.com/item.asp?item=9-7852&catname=hydraulic i was thinking that unit right there, if the specs are compatible. thats probably cheaper than the kit from bobcat anyway.
