I've got a 722 that experiences frequent (every couple of years) fuel problems. Through time the intake/gauge plate on top of the plastic tank has begun leaking and allowing rainwater into the tank. This is due to the plastic warping a bit and the screws can no long hold the metal plate firmly to the tank. I've come up with a solution. I'm going to fab a metal backing plate to put into the tank which then will allow me to snug everything up tight and straighten the plastic. I can probably do this in place but I'd rather take the tank out to make this repair and that would permit me to give the tank a thourough cleaning. My question is: how do I remove the tank and what is the level of difficulty?
