How do I access the chain case on my 642? Think I have a loose chain or maybe a worn sprocket. When I'm really digging and need power the right side will jump like maybe the chain is slipping on the sprocket. I do have a service manual but it's not much help. Can't seem to see where the chain case cover is. And is the chain tension adjustable? Thanks,

Look between your feet, the park brake pedal is one point, if you lift the cab you will see another plate after it just under the pump. These are your two inspection plates.

The chains are not adjustable. If they a stretched and dragging on the bottom of the chain case then its time to change them.
When there are new, you can jack the machine up and roll the tread area of the tire by hand back and forth about 1 inch. If yours moves 3" or more on the tire tread that chain is getting pretty worn and stretched.
If the chain is skipping you may have a bad bearing or a sprocket with no teeth left.

Ken, Did you fix that link or did it work this time? I put spaces before and after it, but it didn't show up blue/linked at first. If you did fix it again, what did you do?
