I HAVE A 1999 NEW HOLLAND 865LX, IT WILL SHUT DOWN AT AN IDLE, PICK THE IDLE UP A LITTLE BIT AND IT WILL STAY RUNNING. BUT AT AN IDLE THE LOW OIL ALARM WILL GO OFF. I PUT A MECHANICAL OIL PRESSURE GAUGE ON THE MACHINE AND AT IDLE I HAVE ABOUT 28PSI OF OIL PRESSURE. MY QUESTION,DOES THE MACHINE HAVE A LOW OIL SHUT DOWN SWITCH THAT MIGHT BE BAD AND IF SO WHERE WOULD IT BE LOCATED. THANKS FOR ANY HELP THAT I MIGHT RECEIVE.

It should have a low pressure sensor that shuts the machine down to prevent damage. I assume you removed the oil rpessure switch to install a pressure gague? if so, that should be the switch that it uses to detect low pressure. They do go bad.
28 PSI seems rather low to me. Was it tested hot or cold?
Also, please don't type in capitals, its considered yelling. Lower case is all that is required.

....We have a 99 LX as well, it likes to shut down at idle as well, but I get a low hyd pressure light and within about 20 seconds, the machine shuts down, a restart and all is fine. But the last couple of days, I have got a error 2 on my display, my charge pump pressure switch has a slow leak, I am wondering if that is where the problem is stemming from for this machine. Now pertaining to your question, there is likely a low engine oil pressure switch , and it is on the engine, check on the right hand side when facing the rear of machine, the same side your alternator is on, I am sure there is a switch there. Just to be accurate.....are you getting a low pressure light, or low oil level light. I hope this info may help....S
