I have a 1982 Clark 825 that has a issue. The machine has foot controls and when using the left pedal to lift the booms I get very slow movement. I have taken the control valves out from the back and overhauled with new seals, still the same problem. The machine drives fine and the bucket tilts and dumps no problem. The lifting boom is erratic and lifts extremely slow whether the bucket is full or not. This problem arose and I suspected the control valves so I overhauled, no change. Weird thing is if I have the bucket tilted down and lift the boom it moves very slowley, if I tilt the bucket up at the same time the boom flies up. If the bucket is tilted part way down and full the lifting boom is slow to lift and if I again tilt the bucket the lifting boom drops to the ground?? Any ideas?? This machine is old but fairly reliable! Thanks

I purchased the exact same machine a few years ago, the seller had it in a barn sitting for a few years, and he had the exact same problem. After I got it running I drained about 23 gallons of oil, and about four gallons of water out of the sump. Replaced the hydraulic filters (that third one under the pedals is a pain,) and filled her up with 27 gallons of 10W30 oil. A few hundred dollars later, (27 Gallons!) she runs and works like a dream. The earlier machines had steel covers under the seat. The later ones, like yours, has fiberglass. On my machine, the fiberglass had a crack right at the lip in front of the seat. At some point the machine had sat outside, and every time it rained water would run through the crack and into the machine, where it settled to the bottom. The guy I bought it from never left it sit out, but he never saw the water when he checked the dipstick. He never had the cover off either, he just figured it was hydraulic, and therefore expensive, so he just let it sit in the barn. They are good reliable machines, and no computers on them! Except for the stupid filter under the pedal, it's a pretty basic design. Good Luck, Jerry

Check out your hyd pump. I,ve seen this on a 825. Went to do a pump test, and the pump had a crack in it. Still enough flow to supply the hydro pumps.
