Raising Skidsteer Lift Arm Without Power

Help Support SkidSteer Forum:

That is a good idea and actually, removing one pin should suffice.
Looking at it, I think If I remove the rear pins....
and lift the boom... and lock it.

The cylinder will lay flat... It will still kinda be in the way for engine access... But I can move it slightly or tie it back... according to how much slack in the line I have ...

ya think?

I can probably lift it up to the yellow arm and secure it.
the line is on the front end of cyl.

How about just removing one hydraulic ram pin from each side. I've done this before to raise arms on a non running machine. Of course it all depends on the machine and how much room there is to remove the pins. Most machines the rear pins are accessible.

Then the arms can be slowly jacked up from the front using blocks to hold them up.

Slow but no mess.
Worked like a charm.... Thanks for the Tip!

Yep, use the safety stops if the machine has them as the downside of using a prop is that most machines will rare backwards with front tyres coming off the ground when you you remove the weight of the arms with a prop unless you put a stand under the very rear of the machine.
All machines that have tilting cabs usually don't have safety stops on the top of the cab but have steel channels that go over one of the extended arm lift ram rods.
