I have a series 2 260 that I bought new in 03, under 900 hours. Always taken great care of, serviced religiously. Lately it has started this...when the machine gets up to operating temp, and you put it into some serious work, the " Hydraulic Oil Over-Temperature" light and alarm comes on..I just changed the hydraulics c fluid and filter, but it was no help... I also blew out and then pressure washed both the hydraulic oil cooler and radiator. I am in dire need of help please.. Any ideas or comments are very much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Are you getting good air flow through the cooler?
Another thing, are you running an attachment when it gets hot? some don't allow enough fluid to return to the tank vial the cooler, so it doesn't cool enough.

Yes...from what I can tell, airflow is unrestricted, but I will double check. No attachments when its getting hot.

Is the oil actually hot? Check the temp when the light comes on probably needs a new hyd sensor. They seem to fail quite often on deere. If in doubt replace the sensor first , I think you can look it up on the deere site for price.

I cannot see any restrictions as far as airflow is concerned. Is there a good way to tell what the hydraulic temp. is when the alarm starts going off ?

Have the infra red temp gun, just curious as to what a normal ,safe temp would be.
On the new Holland the low temp is 100 and the alarm is supposed to go off at 210, seems like I seldom see it much higher than 140-150 even in the summer.

My 240 series II did the same thing doing heavy work in hot, humid weather the summer before last. The service manual troubleshooting flowchart says the problem is excessive pump leakage. I finished that heavy job, and ran the loader all this past summer without the light coming on. My loader is just a toy for around the yard, so I don't often really work it hard. It seems to operate well, so I wonder if the switch / sender idea has some merit. It's worth looking into, as every time I use my machine I'm worried that the light will come on and that the pump is leaking internally. My 240 has something like 1050-1100 hours, and I'm at least the third owner, but I've had it for going on five years now with no real issues. I replaced one hydraulic line and a battery. The pins are getting sloppy because I'm not getting enough grease in them, and I'm up for a set of tires this next fall.. By the way, I downloaded the manuals from the internet forfree. The troubleshooting flow charts are worth the effort.

Don't remember. It was a couple of years ago and I have CRS. I think it was either a google search or maybe even a post on this site. It's probably still on my hard drive in Michigan, but I'm in Fl for a couple of months.

My sincere thanks to Jerry and all the others. My problem has been solved. It was a faulty temp sensor. I replaced that and all is good now.. Thanks again for everyone's help.
