Hi, I have a few questions regarding the LX565 hoping you will be able to answer: 1. Is there a pdf copy of the user/owner manual out there available to download? I have the service manual for the L160 but I thought the owner manual would help with issues like my next question: 2. How do you check the oil level in the gearbox and the chain drives? I assume the chain drive oil should be up to the screw plug on the side of the chain case between the 2 wheels? On the reduction gearboxes, I can see the curved pipe that looks like it would be how you would add oil, but to check the oil level do you unscrew the plug and measure the depth or is there another method? 3. Is there meant to be a belly plate under the engine that protects the sump and fuel tank? Mine is missing but I can see where one would bolt on. I'm wondering if the previous owner took it off because it was easier to service without it? Is it really needed? If it is I will have to try to fabricate something. Thanks

Unless it would be used indoors all the time you should have the belly plate. It has a access hole for engine oil drain with a cover over it ,one little hole in that engine oil pan and the machine is pretty much junk. In the book it shows the fill pipe as the check point for the gearbox. I recently modified mine so the chain case oil flows into the gearbox as per Mike10's instructions. I did see somewhere on the web that New Holland had trouble getting the gearbox seals to hold so from 2000 on up they are lubed with chain case oil.

Thanks Jerry. So do you fill the oil level right up to the top of the fill pipe?

The book shows the fill point as the chcck point also, I can convert individual pages to pdf but have not figured out how to post them here yet. I could e-mail them to you if you need a particular page in pdf format. I would recommend buying the book from the dealer as there is a lot of stuff involving the eic display in it.

Thanks Jerry. I've ordered a owners manual from ebay so hopefully when it arrives it will have some useful info in it.

Another question, this time about the mounting plate for the bucket. The pins on mine have the taper facing away from the bucket. Initially I thought someone had put them in the wrong way but looking at the exploded parts view it shows them facing that way. Wouldn't that mean it is more likely for the bucket to "slip off" if the pins happened to ride up a bit? It seems more logical to me to have the tapered part of the pin facing toward the bucket meaning it is easy to put the bucket on but the pins would have to be completely retracted for it to come off?

I thought the same thing , tried them the other way but they dont retract far enough to clear.
The way they have them with the taper away from the bucket does help to pull the bucket in if its not quite tight to the plate.
Mine don't retract and stay up as far as they could but evidently new springs would cure that.
