Hello, I just bought an S185 to use around the house and I have two questions that I'm hoping some experts can chime in on... 1) I noticed that when I'm on a hill and the machine is running, the bobcat rolls backwards down the hill until I either push on the forward levers or put the parking brake on. Is this normal? I used to have a cat 247 and I can't remember it ever rolling down a hill, but that was a track machine. Also, when the delivery driver unloaded it from the truck and tipped the flatbed down, i noticed that the bobcat rolled forward a bit. Is that normal for it to roll like that? 2) is there any magic trick to engaging two speed. I can't find a button or lever or anything. Thanks in advance for your help! Mike

Yep, its normal for it to roll a bit down hills, that's why there is a park brake :)
Are you sure it has the 2 speed option installed? the switch will be there, but it does not mean the parts were installed.

Thanks, Tazza! It says "2 speed" on the sides and in the option sheet, but I can't find a switch labeled "2 speed"... Any idea where this is? Thanks! Mike

The switch should be on one of the steering levers, there will be a picture of a turle and a rabbit. I'm sure you can work out what is what :)
I have never used a machine with two speed, i thought you just flick the switch to get it to operate. Just remember, its just for driving around, when you need to dig or move a load, you need to put it back to normal or risk casusing damage.
And most of all, enjoy your new toy

Yep, just push the rabbit and that should engage the 2 speed option. It will "road" at approximately twice the speed. Like mentioned, use the "turtle" when working the machine.

A note about 2-speeds, if it is cold out, the oil has to warm up to operating temperature in order to engage. Also, it is normal for the machine to move back and forth a little bit with the park brake on. That is caused by normal slack in the drive chains. Not to worry.
