hey all, new to the site, i have a 773g i just bought for a good price, has 2100 hours on it ive noticed that the forward on the machine seems slow, maybe 4mph i guess...meanwhile i get about 6mph on reverse, not sure on speeds but its a very noticable difference. what can i do to adjust this? or is something worn out? both sized track dead on, and have no creeping thanks fellas! 2001 773g cab, heat

Get the cab up and look at the linkage for the drives. The bushings and what not take more abuse in forward than in reverse and thats where the wear shows up. 2MPH diff is pretty bad I have been in a lot of machines that seemed faster in reverse but I doubt it was 2MPH. Check everything from the pump levers to the mounts for the sticks. I have seen debris so deep it restricted movement; usually a good size stick and normally only one side. I would bet on wear or adjustment out of whack. Somebody here will have pics and info how to center the sticks for travel.

Download the 773 manual, it will show you what to do. Its pretty simple, but getting it just right, not always so easy.

Here goes a cardinal sin. Check HeavyEquipmentForum.com titled Repairing creeping bobcat ATCO has posted some great pictures and adjustment procedures related to the area your are going to look at. Not exactly your problem but will give some food for thought.

ok so now i have popped up the cab and after cleaning out the mouse houses and rust i have discovered the handles travel further in reverse than forward turn up your sound and you should be able to hear me, it seems that the aluminum ears that turn the pump directional lever go further in reverse soo....do i adjust the linkage right in the middle to allow the handles to travel further in forward? seems pretty eeasy... suprisingly all is very very tight and has no play, only other thing is i noticed the right hand steering dampner fell off <object width="640" height="385"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/0Ia-AenDoK8?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"><embed><object>

OK SO ITS NOT WORKING SO HERE IS THE DIRECT LINK TO THE YOUTUBE VIDEO I MADE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Ia-AenDoK8
If all the linkages are still tight, probably the steering levers have been bent toward the front of the machine. If the machine is not 'creeping' then you don't need to mess with the pump shaft levers, just adjust the length of the flatbar linkages until the speeds are more balanced, forward vs. reverse.
