I have searched the forum and run tests before this post... My 753 appears to have screwed up its fuel pickup. It will only run with the tank totall full and after a half hour / hour it runs out of fuel. I let this happen a few times, it consistently acts like it has a 4 litre fuel tank. I removed the fuel lines and blew back... heard bubbles when fuel present, but when in no fuel state. If I fill again (to filler cap) it pours fuel out the line. So I assume I have to get to the tank and fix the pickup, it acts as if the pickup from the top of tank down is gone. I am looking for manual to confirm this. I cannot see that I can get to the tank without removing the engine fully. I am planning on disconnecting all I can see undoing mount bolts and using my fork lift to lift engine out... very tight as usual on the bobcat. If anyone has any tips before I start please let me know. Thanks Gavan

the original fuel pickup tube was a soft clear plastic , much like aquarium tubing , it becomes brittle and breaks off and falls into the tank ,................you don't have to pull the engine to repair it ........... it seems from reading the threads over the years that most dealers across the nation sell the same tubing to replacing the tube the dealer here has been selling black hard plastic tube to replace the pickup tube , I have changed boocou with the black tube and have never seen one fail yet , so ask you dealer about the hard tube , it is made out of the exact same stuff as air brake tubing but air brake tubing is coiled and doesn't straighten out and stay straight well ...............there are 2 - 90 degree fittings going into the top the tank , they are held in with a rubber grommet , one is a return hose , if you grab the primer bulb and pull on it you can follow the hose to the pickup tube fitting , either grab the fitting with a small pair of pliers of vise grips and pull it out the tank , a screw driver or a body moulding clip tool works well , put the new tube on the fitting and use a new grommet , put the grommet over the tube but not all the way over the end of the fitting , then push the grommet into the tank , slide the tube all the way down and push the fitting into the grommet , just leave the hole tube in the tank , after a long time I have seen where the old tube will further deteriate and some piece get stuck in the pickup tube , but to get it out you would have to pull the motor and tank , and the chances of it happening are slim ,

Thanks for the detailed reply, I will see if I can get those bits tomrrow. I figured that was the problem, but was not confident of getting the line out with the engine in the way... I am sure it will be a challenge but from your comments it can be done :)

mine to ./ its possible to get it out on a 763 but its no picnic , you will need to use a slightly bent lever/ or screw driver /same getting that rubber gromit back in grease and lever down and wiggle back and foward till it drops in hell dont take the motor out of it just for that ./ second option take the battery out and use a right hand drill and enter the side of the tank and put a new hose and gromit in.// also the hose can bend up, break off and there should be a check valve and foot filter on the bot of the pick up line,/ if you blew in the tank from the hose that sounds like pickup pipe is off ./// mine seems to have a failing supply pump the little round bit on the back of the pump

sorry to revive the dead.. But I got the black tube today. The end is cut at an angle. Should I put the strainer on it or does the black pipe not get one? Any side the angle should point to ?

direction of angle doesn't matter ----------------- I would not put the strainer on as I wouldn't want it to clog up and have to take it out to clean it -----------

Thanks Fish! Dude at the parts counter seemed to make out like it was needed. might be easier just to pull the old one thru and shove the new one in . Thanks

when you pull the tube the grommet is going to pull out the tank about 99.9 percent the time , really should have a new grommet but if all you got is the old one and it is in good condition reuse the old one , put the grommet in the tank and push the tube thru -------------
