newbie with a 170 skid steer

Well, i got the belt and went to put it on, but I had to figure out why the front variable pulley was wobbling first. I had a hell of a time getting it apart, one set screw broke off and i had to drill it out. there's still some of it left in the shaft. There's supposed to be a bolt and lock...

Thanks, that may be where I got the kits from, I can't remember but it wasn't expensive. I rebuilt the lift cylinders and it was a lot easier than I thought.

575 JD Skid Steer - Drive chain

I'm not familiar with that machine, but I have opened up the side on a Toyota SDK8 skid loader that I keep at my dads place, and just to inspect the drive chain and change the oil it took me three hours. I think 4 hours for a shop to inspect and change the chain is reasonable. Is that part of...

newbie with a 170 skid steer

Thanks for the info. I was reading up on the 1200 and looking at pictures online to see how it was set up and the pulleys are closer on my JD170. I could see where the belt was on the pulleys and measured as best I could. I just bought a 2926v534 on eBay for $20 so it's cheap enough to take a...

Wisconsin V465D used engine. Good core or parts VA 22650

I pulled this from my John Deere 170 skid steer. It wasn't the original engine. It did run, but not well. The top end was worn, bad rings etc from the previous owner not having an air cleaner on it. Some of the plugs were firing intermittently which could just be a worn ignition system. I...

Thank you for the reply. Was your old belt the same length? I'll just get some more measurements from the machine and get into to fit.

Here's some pictures I took today. That mirror is a door mirror from a Kenworth. The LED worklight was put on in a rush to load a truck at night. And you can see how the variable drive pulleys are not aligned, that probably cause the belt failure, Ill have to take care of that when i put the...

newbie with a 170 skid steer

From what I can tell from the old belt, it's length is 54.5 inches. Could it have actually shrunk that much? It's a JD GG020-30843, stamped right on it. Since my variable speed doesn't work, a bet I could get away with a shorter than stock belt. I'd like to have a 1:1 ratio, or close to it...

Variable speed drive belt for OMC 1200 Skid steer

Does anyone know if the drive belt for the 1200 is the same for the 1700? ( JD170, JD24 )

    Mustang 1200

Try removing and disassembling the fuel pump, if its like the one on my JD170 with the wisconsin engine, there are two check valves inside. They pop in like freeze plugs. Mine would stall and run lean once it was warmed up and it turned out that one of those check valves fell out allowing only...

newbie with a 170 skid steer

Thanks for that information, I apologize for not monitoring this post, I didn't get any notification of replies. I am now looking for a drive belt, the variable speed belt. Mine broke yesterday. I do have the John Deere number, GG020-30843, and the parts manual says substitute for GG020-18058...

    jd24 skid not turning

the parts manual may be useless since most of the parts are obsolete. But the operators manual and the technical manual have been very useful to me. have you operated the hydraulic system and checked the level again? I don't know why it would only take ten. I have never drained mine to know how...

    jd24 skid not turning

I forgot to ask, which engine is in your JD24? I just assumed it was the wisconsin 37-hp.

    jd24 skid not turning

The manual I have shows that full hp is at 3000 rpm, which is also the limit for that engine. I suggest installing a cheap tachometer at some point just to be sure the governor and throttle is adjusted correctly.

I agree, I have to be carefull now. I'm going to install a tachometer and keep the engine around 1800 rpm, that's what the hp charts show for 37 hp for that engine, 65 hp at 3000 rpm. I may install platinum plugs in the replacement engine so I won't have to worry about it! I have a electronic...
