I just added a new tool to my shop (I'm probably a little behind the times), my new tool -----a digital camera. I just put it inside a small plastic bag to protect it then as I'm disassembling anything I take a series of pictures. Sure takes some of the suspense out of reassembly LOL.
If dwell is correct and engine has decent compression then I'd look at checking the function of the governor gas engines in general produce less torque than similar sized diesels, so maintaining correct RPM (governor) is very important to produce usable power.
Well how about 700.00 for a carb rebuilt kit for a 642b Does that seem a little steep to you???? I'm curious as how anyone could attempt to justify this type of price ????

I'll give the salvage yard idea a try after the holidays-----unfortunately the stripped threads aren't on a separate nipple rather it is a single casting. Thanks everyone for the replies. I'll follow up on what I find at the salvage yard.
Does anyone know the best place to locate the oil fliter mount for this engine ?????? The one currently on the engine is stripped where the filter screws on.
you can replace with points for an old 1.6 dodge colt (same engine) from advance auto plug gap is .028 to.031 inch point gap is .018 to .021 consider changing spark plug wire while doing tune up
the pins at the rear of the arms wears primary on the bottom of the pin (closest to the ground) unbolting and rotating 180 degrees may help. it is best to replace with new.
