Our T-590 with 1700 hrs had a roller (intermediate) that started screeching. I replaced it with a new one and like I do with most broken things have taken it apart to see what went wrong. to my surprise, it has 2 bronze bushings instead of bearings as I was expecting. Sealing is done by 2 large o-rings. things don't look worn but the unit is dry. There is a plug (1/8th NPT) I want to rebuild as a spare. Does anyone know what type of oil is used in them? Gotta try it! Thanks for the input, Andy

I'd use some good quality synthetic oil.
Did it seem like it ran oil or just plain 'ol grease? the thicker the oil the less likely it will get out past the Orings, but may be stiffer.

It was almost surly some kind of oil as there are holes between the cavities. That probably would not work with grease unless it was totally filled. I am thinking of a 140 weight synthetic gear oil. Am also going to research the manufacturer (BERCO)as there is a number on the casting and also numbers on the bushings......Just need time. Thanks for the response

So can rollers be rebuilt or repaired? I've been told best to buy new, but if there is a way to rebuild them and I can save money that's what I would like to do. I have a New Holland C232

Manf.to manf. there is most likely differences in how they are assembled,so, I would take one apart and look to see if there is to much wear to repair, if you feel that there is life left in it repair it if even it is just kept as a spare. I unlike others would think if the oil ran out resealing to hold new oil might not happen due to wear ,I would add a zerk somewhere as much out of the way as possible and use high pressure grease. I had a 5 ft. rotory cutter that the bottom seal was shot when someone welded the nut on the stump jumper on.(just stupid) ,filled gear case with grease, took many tubes to do , but ran it for years ,just refilled it when lubed trailing wheel. was still good when sold it. you might think about a small vent hole to let the air out to assist filling too. just a opinion.
