I have a used Bobcat S175 that needs hydraulic / hydrostatic fluid. The manual states that this model can use VG 100, VG 46, some Bobcat product (and presumably some newer Bobcat product that replaced that other Bobcat product). I have no clue what the previous owner used, though I found out they changed the engine coolant from PG-based to EG-based despite what the manual states -- i.e. clearly previous owner was not not a strict manual adherent.

Given that there is no information about what's currently in the machine, what are my options? I suspect I'm going to hear that I need to drain/flush, replace filter, and refill with ~5 gallons of fresh hydraulic fluid. I'm hoping there might be a simpler/far less expensive approach where I could just top it off with something.

if the oil is not in need of a change due to contamination or high hours on the oil a iso aw 46 should do the trick for top off and that should be available in 1 gallon bottles just about everywhere.

Thanks @foton , I'd obviously much prefer that. There wouldn't be much concern about "incompatibilities" between whatever is in there vs the ISO AW 46 resulting in seal failure or other issues?
