Hi all, I just got my second 453 from 95 and I do have to run the starterengine atleast for 30 seconds before it starts - even if I have it inside a warmgarage - I´ve heard I should glow the enginge at least 60 sec - correct? - I have not tested this yet. My other 453 -01 starts immidiate after glowing only 5 seconds. I guess the glower works on my 453 -95 as the voltmeter drops approx 1-2v while glowing. Comments?

I personally wouldn't glow for 60 seconds unless the engine is really worn. If it starts with short glows i'd stick with that. If the temperature is really low i'd ensure you are running a suitable oil, start it and let it warm up before putting it to work.

15 to 20 seconds is more of average glow time. You can burn out the plugs if you hold them too long. You should isolate your glow plugs and see if you can get a ground though each individual plug as one or more may have a burnt out element and not be working.
Next in line for poor starts is fuel leaking back, bad injectors and low compression.
Does it smoke while you crank it for the 30 seconds? If not there may be a hole in a fuel line somewhere allowing the fuel to leak back to the tank and the engine has to crank it up again.
If it smoking then the other 3 are your target.
I assume it starts fine while its still warm from running? Is it the same engine model as you other 453?

Yes, when the engine is warm it starts at once, and yes it smokes a lot when cranking the engine, and the O-ring seal in the dieselfilter is new, and there are no leaks of what i could find. Is is easy to remove the glowplugs and verifying the function or how how do I do this ? Is it just to connect the plug to the + and waiting fpr the plug to get warm (when it´s still in place) My "easy start" 453 is from 2001 and have a quite similar engine of what i can understand 0.722l but another dieselfilter, vaterpump, and so on. regards diesel newbie :) www.hyrbobcat.com

I'd start by ensuring the plugs are getting power. Hook up a test light or multi-meter to the glow plug rail and ground then glow it, see if you get power.
The plugs are easy to remove, should be 12mm. Use a heavy wire and attach to a battery, they should glow rite to the tip.
