I had a large tree root come through my door glass while pulling stumps. Im lookin to get a forestry door with 3/4" thick polycarbonate windshield to replace it. A Bobcat OEM Ballistic Door runs about $4800. The other option is a is a door made by Ballistic Defender that costs $2659 shipped.
The OEM door comes with all new frame and hardware. The Ballistic Defender Door I reuse my old hardware. The big difference is the Bobcat door windshield is replaceable and costs $2770.
The Ballistic Defender Door the windshield is glued in and I would have to purchase a whole new door for $2659. Does anyone have advice on which one I should buy?

I cannot offer any advice on what door to buy, but have you see the replacement glass made by Shied,(there are also a few others that make like products, one I seen they were shooting bullets at it and was holding up fine, but forget there name)
but there made of a high tech plastic that is almost unbreakable and fits in OEM doors
I am not sure what it costs, but I would thin if one wanted to use the door they already had, they could add this stuff and if wanting more protection, and was a little handy with a welder, could add some re bar across window to add extra protection and would think be saving a bunch of pennys in the process!

here is a short clip on things if you care to look!
I sadly know the feeling of having something come at you thru a door on a skid steer too, it sure makes you want better protection, HAHA!

GOOD luck!

Thanks for the info. First time in over 600 hours of skid steer time that I came close to taking a damaging shot to the kisser. I guess if you operate one for a long enough chances for a mishap increase.
