I've been thinking of buying a Compact Track Loader for sometime now. Last year my dealer was sold out of CTL's, so I went and looked at Caterpillar. I almost bought a 259, but it was so late in the year that I would have not got much use out of it before the ground froze. I've been leery of the Diesel Particulate Filter since I've seen them plug during extended idle periods, but don't expect mine to idle excessively. It is my understanding that 75HP+ is federally required to have a DPF, but 74HP and less does not. My Bobcat dealer informed me last year that a T740 was being released which is non-DPF and I see the specs on the Bobcat website. Unfortunately my dealer isn't planning on ordering any stock T740's, so I'd have to special order it. Both machines are Tier 4 engines. The T750 is turbo charged with 85HP and the T740 is naturally aspirated with 74HP. The machines are pretty even on lift capacity and weight, so basically it's choice of which engine to get. What are the pluses and minuses of each? Thanks.
