Just wanted to thank everyone, and let you know the reason my 642 was hard to start was a bad distributor spark advance. the distributor was the only part of the engine that was not new, now it is. thanks again mike

This was one of the Ford L4 gas motors? If so just curious is it points or duraspark electronic? And I assume no vacuum advance?

My 632 with the ford engine has vacuum advance external and centrifugal mechanical advance under the point plate in the dist. These will rust up sometimes and throw the timing off also.
