When switching attachments on my LX885, the left side handle/pin will not stay in the up position. It just drifts back down on gravity. I am currently using a bungee cord to keep the handle up, but that's a PITA and I want to have things right.
I'm guessing that the tension spring is broken or has lost its "spring" I can't see anything obvious other than the fact that it doesn't work. How bad is the tear-down, repair, and reassembly? I have the parts diagram from the NH web site.
I have also seen where some people have converted to power QA with linear actuators. Any hope of making that happen on a NH machine like mine?

I'd like to see a good solution to this also. I have taken the handle apart and can see no reason for it but it won't stay all the way up spring is ok and nothing is obviously worn either.

The best way to fix it is to replace the parts between the handle and the pin. The spring, top mount, bottom mount and bolt. You could also try and add shim washers under the spring to give it more tension. The top mounts on the early loaders had narrow shoulders that would break off. The new bottom mounts are threaded different so you also need to replace the bolt. I am sure you will find the spring is shorter than a new one.

Thanks Mike, looks like I need a new spring , have tried adding washers and then run out of compression length when it goes over the cam..
