I recently pickup and serviced a '02 773T with 1120 hours. Mostly used on cattle farm and had a fair bit of round bale twine wrapped around the rear axles, which I removed. Among other things, I topped off the chain case oil to the point where it was not yet overflowing the front plug, but was close (4"). A while later (maybe 10 hours), I noticed oil on the left rear rim, both inside and outside. Don't remember seeing that before. Figuring I had a seal to replace soon, I just used it to finish a project which scoured the oil off the rim. Since then I have not seen any sign of a leak. Any thoughts? Could the oil level just have been a little to high and it seeped out? Seems like a long shot. Should I still worry about the seal? Thanks, Steve

It sounds like the axle seals may have been damaged by the wire, just keep an eye on the oil level. They are pretty easy to replace.
You didn't over fill the chain case so that won't be a problem, even if you did the axle seals should have kept it inside.
