i'm thinking of getting over the tire metal tracks for my l553 i was wondering what size i should be looking for any suggestions (brand/size)?

earthwerks, did you have to put on spacers for clearance and if so where is the best deal on them? thanks

You do need spacers. Try craigslist. I found 4 for $50, and another set for $200.

The best deal is to buy 5 sets and become a dealer. But short of that I'd be happy to help out.
New spacers are @ $350 which leaves mostused ones a good value.
They are a good track for the money.

Ken, are those 2" spacers then? If I can find the money I will have to do, it this time of the year here you can't do anything without leaving ruts. Just curious do the track make it ride rough? I would expect some on hard ground anyway.

Actually the ride is better BUT at the cost of a lot of shaking due to the shoes hitting the hard ground

On my 160 the 1.5" was enough, but 2" ones are the most common. Be sure to ask because I got stuck with a 1" set once.
The tracks cause some vibration and are a bit rough at a certain meduim (3.5 mph? kind a a harmonic thing) speed on a hard surface. I just go slower or faster. As for crossing rut it is better.
The McLaren diamonds run a bit smoother on the hard stuff because they use more shoes, but the "bar" design is harder on turf and they cost more.
Fortunately if its gravel it generally loosens the surface up after a few trips and the ride smooths down. As for where you can go on the soft, loose sand or greasy stuff it makes a huge difference. If the ground is not froze, I have mine on.
