S250 egr

I have an s250 and on the egr there is a vent hole on the bottom of the diaphragm. Has anyone seen soot comming out of this breather or is the diaphragm leaking? There is also soot inside the vacuum hoses to the temp switch. I think they should be free of soot. Does anyone know for sure?

Honestly, never had egr problems. I would say as long as it runs fine and there is no actual exhaust leak, I don't know if I would worry about it.
