Greetings! I am piecing together an abused 1845 (not an S, B, C) that is missing some parts. The oil cooler is one piece I have had issues finding. The only one I can find is over $1k. I have read other forum posts where people have put a universal transmission cooler in place of the stock oil cooler. Will this work? Is there anything I am overlooking by considering this "fix"? Does anyone have a suggestion on a good replacement? Most of the coolers I have found are pretty small. Not having the stock cooler, I am unsure what size I need to keep the hydraulic oil under 160 degrees.

What was the original oil cooler like? The 1835Bs used a "cross over" tube inside the lower radiator tank as an oil cooler. Can't find replacement radiators like that so many years ago already I put a transmission cooler for a car in place of the cross over tube. Never had a problem. That machine has more than 14,000 hours on it. 160 F is plenty cool for hydraulic oil. It can go over 200 without trouble. Try to stay under 225.
