I did a quick search on both engines, and like all things, depending on the build of each engine, they can vary in HP out put, but from what I seen, the kubota 223 makes about 27 hp and the n844lt about 47,
BUT again you have to know each details on both your considering or have, as there are many versions of the N844lt engine too! so you need to know exact model you have in your machine NOW,
as different parts turbo and compression cam's and so on can alter hp from one build to another
but a different question I would have here is why not just replace the motor with an exact match, and save yourself any issues with needing mods to make an off OEM motor work in your machine
and not have to worry about lift power, hydraulic flow and so on
there are tons of ways to get another NH replacement motor(N844LT Shibaura)
OR what all is wrong with your current one, and just have it rebuilt??
if you ca not try asking your local diesel shop if they would and how much $$$
BUT re manufactured and or used, or salvaged motors are out there, not hard to find, but COSTS
well they will vary from location to condition to???? just again make sure you get the correct model N844lt engine you have to match parts rebuilt kits and or replacement engines!
another option can be some times to look for a whole other second machine as in a parts machine, from a salvage yard that might have other issues, but still a good engine for a rebuiild, these older machines are getting harder to get parts for as many parts have been long discontinued now, so a spare part machine could pay for itself down the road , food for thought on this idea as I know budgets are not endless for most of us, me included!
