i just got a m700, today was my first time using it. theres a few issues with it. the alternator light is on. the battery isnt charging, so i checked the alternator and its bad. so temporarily i've been charging the battery to keep it running. it seems like once the battery goes below 12v it won't (power up) the ignition system. i believe this is normal. i will get the alternator rebuilt to fix this problem. my question is: is it normal for the engine/oil light to come on when the battery voltage is low? the oil level is full and the engine has no leaks. the engine does not seem to burn any oil. the engine doesn't smoke either. any help would be appreciated.

The oil light could just be a bad sender.
thanks for the reply, i replaced the alternator and regulator today with a modern style alternator that has an internal regulator. that fixed the charging problem and the alt light is off. once it ran for a bit and the battery got a good charge on it, it ran much better. the oil/engine light just flickers a little bit when the engine is under a load. i think that seems normal.

It really shouldn't flicker under load.... When dropping a load it can do so as the charge pressure drops off. Just keep an eye on it though, better to be safe than sorry.
Good to hear you got the alt fixed up.
