i picked up what i think is a 610 a while ago. it was pretty well stripped. so here is what i did. I repowered it with a 4 cylinder water cooled Kohler L654 from a generator. but i haven't found a way to put a hydraulic pump on the motor yet. plus all the hydraulics were missing from the machine like the pump, all lines. all valves, levers, rods, even the peddles were missing . so i bought 2 electric/hydraulic power units and mounted them on the back. works amazingly well. any way to post pictures of it in here ?

Yes there is a way to do it…….I'm not the one to walk you through it however as I've never figured it out myself. I do, however, encourage you to do it as I'd love to see the repower.

Wow…….that took some work…….not much room left in that compartment. What all do you have left to have it working 100%? How many HP does that engine produce.

its 100% done now. I have been using it a lot lately. i actually have 2 of those electric/ hydraulic units on it with one working the lift arms up and down under power. the other one curls the bucket up and down , again power both ways . and i have one to close the variable speed which only needs power in one direction. BUT what want to do is see if i can take the governor off the engine and use a cable to set the throttle. then replace it with a hydraulic pump and try to get it back more to the way it was originally. but i need so many parts not sure that will ever happen . so it might just stay this way for a while . but for a yard machine it works well. Im not sure what pump might fit the motor , not sure if it would be big enough to drive the hydraulics .

thank you for that . the post looks a lot better when its done right.
Without a serial number, I can't really tell for sure but that machine did not come original with the Wisconsin engine. The cut out in the right side indicates that it was a M-611, M-610D or maybe a M-600D but it came with a diesel engine original. I'm a little skeptical that you could have squeezed that engine in the standard M-610 with the smaller cut out for the Wisconsin engine. You have some serious talent (or pure-D-crazy) to have made that work. Nice job.

I've heard ( crazy ) a few times lately . maybe best to go wit that lol. I found a tag under the seat that says Model 610. But i do not see any letter after it and i do not see a serial number on it . would it be stamped on the machine some where ?

If you remove the right hand side (chain case) viewing panel. It will be stamped on the body between the two forward most studs…..upper row.

i look for it next time i have reason to pull that cover. I just got it back on last weekend. I made a new pulley for the alternator and replaced both jack shaft bearings.
