new holland ls180 boom does not operate

when we purchased this NH ls180 the seatbelt kept giving me fits, in the middle of using maching the park and seatbelt light would start beeping and blinking. what i ended up doing was cutting the wires off installed 2 on/off switchs im assuming one for the park and one for seatbelt, maching does drive even though those lights blink, it only effects boom operation...after months of this working with no issues it just doesnt work anymore for some reason..the safety lights(park,seatbelt) do not go off leaving boom locked..i took switches off wire nutted wires together and no dice...the beeping will go off but not disengage the safety swithches any more. Is there any way to fix without spending alot of money on the seatbelt setup

You need to consider the cost if you do not fix the machine correctly. Those switches are there for a reason and that is to keep you or any one else safe. The machine should not even start with those switches not working. The system works like this. When you sit is the seat with the key OFF all the lights should come on on the instrument panel. After the panel goes through a self check all the lights should go out but the part and seat belt lights. Fastening the seat belt should put those lights out and allow the unit to start and operate. The seat switch must be activated before the seat belt is fastened or the unit will not start or operate.

I just went through this with my 2001 LS170. My seat was shot (2nd one-aftermarket generic via Northern Tool). The cracks in the seat allowed the foam to get water logged and then froze up. Safety switches could not be activated. I needed to use the machine that day so we removed the seat, removed switches, zip-tied them closed/activated and put the seat back in. I did not like doing that because of the safety factor but I needed the use of the machine and I did not have a seat yet. That was about a month ago for a day. I replaced the seat just this past week. You can check if your switches are good by performing a continuity test. This of course, means removing the seat. Remove the plunger switches, clean the terminals with emery cloth, set your multimeter to 20K for continuity, attach to both terminals, depress the plunger and the meter should zero out. You can also check continuity on the terminal loop for switches as well. Follow the wire color and where they attach. You can test the seatbelt terminal the same way. Attach to the seat belt plug at the seat belt clip, stick a screwdriver in the seat belt to activate and watch the meter. I DO NOT RECOMMEND BYPASSING THE SAFETY SWITCHES BY INSTALLING ADDITIONAL SWITCHES!!!!! I only bypassed the switches for 1 day as I was desperate and we were fighting freezing temps and frozen material. After seat replacement everything was fine and safe.
