Well I cant seem to get the search to work right... so i hope i can get sone direction.....just took delivery of a 753 today. The delivery guy left and i did a little work in the yard and turned off the machine. Then there it was......green fluid spitting out the over flow bottle and the sound of boiling fluid was everywhere. Ordered a new t-stat. No warranty of course...aint this just great..........maching looked to be in great shape for a 3500 hour unit. Just wanted to use it a few times a year around the house.......

Did the gauge read hot? bubbling overflow tank may not be boiling coolant I'm afraid. I hope thats all it is though, if your head gasket s leaking you can get exhaust gas in your cooling system and this will push coolant out of your overflow tank, been there done that before....
If it reads normal you should be ok, but if you have round gauges you can change the coolant temp one and sender pretty cheap then you know 100% that its not running hot or you will know if it is.
The other way is if you have an IR thermometer you can check the head temperature to ensure its not getting too hot. With the Kubota engines if they get hot they can crack heads.Cracked heads are very common on these engines, ensure the cooling system is rite!

First off, thanks for the post. Second, I will be going through the cooling system. I think it did get hot. It boiled for at least 5 minutes after i shut it down. If its the head issue, how dificult is the r&r?? I used to be a Cat mechanic and have all the tools necissary.....also read a post about Aux hyd. being on. My joy sticks have a small switch on each. How do I know if they are on or not?? Thanks for the reply. Ray

update: I pulled the thermostat. Always start with the easy stuff first right?? I boiled it on the stove in a Pyrex cup. No open. That was on a full boil. I pulled it out with some tongs and held it in the open flame to make sure it got hot hot. No open. Pick a new one up tomarrow. Hope this does it. and hope there is no damage........Ray

Hopefully its the problem and there is no damage.
To enable your aux hydraulics press the button on the bottom of right panel, one press and one light should come on, this is so it will go on and off as you move the switches. If you press it again both lights will come on, thats to lock the flow on for attachments that need constant flow like backhoes. A third press will turn it off, both lights will go out.
Worst case R&R isn't so bad, just not sure on how much room you have to work when the engine is in the machine. The parts are a little expensive though.

RR, when I buy used, which is frequent, I always change oil, thermostat, belts, temp sending unit, and filters. I learned the hard way.

Good point.
I always replace oil and filters, belts i honestly don't pay as much attention as i should.... Thermostats is a good idea, i think that should go in my list of things i should do on "new to me" machines.

i will be going to the dealer in the morning and getting a shopping cart of filters and oil ect. I just hope my engine isnt screwed......

I hope not, it should be ok. I personally would wind the engine over 2 revolutions by hand just in case. If the head did crack it usually lets coolant into a cylinder and if you crank and it fires you can snap a con rod and send it through the block. If you remove the glow plugs you can use the starter to spin it and see if any coolant comes out.
Bobcat hydraulic oil is not cheap, so be prepared. I was talking to my dealer today about an issue i have with my 753 and he said they always used 15W40 engine oil, but this is your choice as to what you use i don't want to start the oil debate.. AGAIN. Only the newer machines MUST use the proper bobcat fluid.

well.......its been a good day........went and picked up the thermostat. It didnt come with a new gasget....but i saved the old one. No biggy. Bought every filter. Waste. Upon further inspection, there were hours written on the ones on the machine. HYD fluid was 100 hours old and the fluid was factory clean. So i didnt change it. The engine had 75 hours on it so i said lets do it. Fuel was like 80 hours. Ive always used Premium Blue on all my cummins so i used it here as well. Only took me 30 minutes to figure out the drain issue!! (Little hose hidden up in there.) Filled it up with new antifreeze and crossed my fingers.......Fired right up.....and didnt leak......so i watched the gauge.....it went to the "O" in Normal........I thought so far so good.......so then i trammed around the yard. Still on "O". Then I checked for leaks.....no leaks.....and said screw it. Throttle on full and started pushing/digging/hauling like I stole it for 20 minutes........the gauge went to "R"..........I think ime good to go!!!! No white smoke, no antifreeze in the cylinders.......no boiling over.........on a side bar.....when i changed the oil...i forgot to move the drain tub and backed over it......monster mess.....and I didnt even throw anything!!....I was too happy my machine was running good!!!! Now my next thing is to fix the grumbling radiator fan.........Thanks fellas!!!!! Ray

The blower isn't a real big job, but it does take time. You need to pull the hydraulic tank out to gain access. Get the blower out, remove the fan, replace the bearings and seals (cost me $20 for 4 bearings and 2 seals) Common numbers so any bearing shop can help you out. They are the open type but these cost more, get metal or rubber shield and simply pop the seals out.
As for backing over things, i have done that Far too many times..... Knocked over oil, hit the side of my plasma cutter!!!! i was NOT happy with that one. I need a reversing camera :)
Glad things are working well!
