The machine is a 08 t180 with 830hrs on it. It is making a loud roaring noise when moving. Sounds like a bearing going out. I changed all the fluids in the machine and cleaned the case drain filter. One had a couple of metal pieces in it. What could be making this noise? I know I have to change my hub oil. I had the machine serviced at the five hundred hours so i am thinking they changed the hub oil then.

Start simple, drive belt isn't slipping bad when moving the machine is it? If a motor had failed, the case drain would be filled with metal, a few pieces are normal wear. It is possible a front or rear idler could be going, but I have never seen a noisy one, they just fail and jump the track. Do you have power bobtach? If that works, thereis no metal in the system, the vavlis is always the first to fail with metal in the system. Remember, bobcats are small cats, they can't roar.

take note the 500 hr hub oil change is suggested(maint interval still posted at a thousand hrs) the sugestion is that in extreme enviroments (which is what we do every day) cut to 500 hrs. dealer not going to do it on auto piliot. you have to ask, as roar isolating a sound can be diffulcit. get a buddy to listen while you operate, try to isolate noise , for example from outside unit left right etc. lift tilt or travel
