Hello! I'm in the process of putting in a new engine on my old 444 and looking for advice on coupling the stub shaft to the hydraulic pump. The motor shaft is a keyed 1" bore and the pump shaft is 3/4" 11 tooth spline. I have inquiries out about Lovejoy jaw style couplers and it looks like it may cost well over $100 just to connect the pump. is there an easier cheaper way? The set up that was on the machine was a pulley mounted to the flywheel with 2 protruding bolts that went into an old torn up Morflex wheel. Was very sloppy but it worked. Unfortunately I broke the Morflex mount when trying to remove it from the pump. Thanks!

I am not sure if you have seen this:

A more durable option to a Lovejoy coupler is a chain coupler:

If you could machine the existing pump coupler to fit a sprocket to it, that would be a low cost alternative.

Surplus Center Has splined love joy Just don't buy the big one . they can be a bear to align . I took a hose clamp and tightened it up then locked the pump down then took the clamp off . been running 2 years on my briggs powered 500 .
