Just purchased a LX865, has been sitting for about a year. After getting it started, we ran it for awhile and the radiator got very hot, melted the rubber gasket on rear door. What is the operating temperture? Radiator does not seem to be clogged? Any ideas on what to look for, Thanks

It depends on the engine, but i thought most engines run thermostats at around 190F
It should never get hot enough to melt a rubber gasket though....

Okay. So I eliminated the temperature sensor on the thermostat housing and added a manual gauge in doing so. I noticed that the panel was still reading hot. And there is a second temperature sensor which is screwed into the head above the thermostat housing. In fact, the coolant is only about a 170 At idol for an hour on the manual gauge. But the temperature sensor which is brand new that is on the head, is reading to fifty five I am confused. I did remove the sensor that is screwed into the head and let the machine run. Didn't shoot water out of that port to make sure there were no obstructions

Remember there is also a hydraulic oil cooler between the engine coolant radiator and the fan on that machine. Also, how is the muffler, actually getting exhaust gasses ( & heat) out of the machine?
