Howdy! My skid is a 1998 NH. I have had lots of probs with it. The latest that I could use some help with is the EIC error code 2. It shuts itself down after running about a minute. I think it is an open/shorted fuel solenoid (according to manual). Where do I start trying to fix this thing. Great forum!

On your injector pump , out toward the end closest to the starter. The solenoid is on the bottom. It protrudes down about 2 inches and is about an inch in diameter. You just unscrew it counter clockwise to loossen. It has a single wire connected to it. Hope this helps. Mike

I did some reading last night. F 04 is the error code for the fuel solenoid. Flip your service switch from run to service, start and run and see if it quits after a minute. Usually a fuel solenoid will either work or not work at all. I guess it could be getting hot and releasing. doesnt sound right.I dont see the code f 2 in my book. there is a regular N. H. mechanic that comes on here sometimes. he would know the codes. If you pull your fuel solenoid dont dump the plunger out into the bottom of the machine. You only loose a little fuel and it stops. Mike

Thanks for the advice. A friend of mine is looking at the electrical schematic. He thinks it might be a relay between the EIC and the solenoid. In my manual it says Err 2 is a shorted/open fuel solenoid. How do you keep from dumping the plunger?

As you remove it just dont turn it over. Its spring loaded but it doent come flying out.I believe it takes a 15/16 wrench. I can get a box end on mine without removing the one fuel line thats in front of it.I also have a LX865. I have rebuilt my engine. I am no expert on skid steers but was forced to learn Quickly when I bought a basket case.Pleae post your solution when you find the problem.
By the way Im looking for a injector pump.

mllud, you posted that a NH mech frequents this site. How do I get his attention? I have found several posts in different places where people are complaining about NH skidsteers especially the 865. I've had mine about 3 yrs and I've replaced the starter solenoid twice and had the whole starter rebuilt twice. I found out this fall that a starter relay was the root of those problems. That one 56 dollar part cost me over $500 in repairs. Are 865's bound to be problem children until you get rid of 'em?

The same guys read this post also. there arent a many N.H. owners. Mostly Bobcat. You still get help from Bobcat owners on general questions. your question is specefic to a N H model. You could try.You need a responce from a member named Charger. He is a N H mechanic. I havnt seen him on lately. Mike

I dont pay a lot of attention on brands. some like Chevy Some like Ford.I have read a post somewhere on here that the lx 865 was bullet proof. I think there are problems with starter solenoids. Parts are dealer only. AND COSTLY. I think with an older machine it may take a while to get past the bugs. I cant afford newer. Mike
When you get time read all the past N H posts. Good Info. All the general also.

sorry to hijack this thread, mike.... couldn't find a private e-mail for you in your profile,do any of the manuals you refer to describe a 3 cyl cummins diesel as an engine in a newer ( not an 08) new holland? thanks, steve [email protected]

Thanks again. Hopefully Charger, skidsteer or somebody will see this and have an easy fix for me. But nothing is ever easy with me. In the meantime I'll start tracing wires wednesday looking for a power interuption to the fuel solenoid. I hate to replace the fuel solenoid if theres a prob. between it and the battery.

I also have the error code 2 and my solenoid is bad but I can't find the correct replacement. The one that it shows should work had about 4 rows of course threads and the one in mine has 8 rows of fine threads. Attached is a picture of the tag on the pump. Any help would be appreciated.
