Went to start my lx665 yesterday wouldn't start. So I figured the battery was old. Replaced the battery today. Now it starts but when you shut it off the battery light flashes and beeps. Could the problem be in the switch?

went back to mess with it some more. now it won't turn over. It's like the ignition switch is off a position. the only time it quits beeping and the lights go off is when it is the run position. is there any way to check the switch or is there a relay somewhere that could be bad

a little more info. The eic only shows 4.4 volts I checked the battery and it was 14 (brand new) so it's like the voltage isn't getting from the battery to the rest of the machine. Any ideas?

Pull and clean all relays and fuses

Since you show 4.4 volts I am assuming you have an instrument panel where the outlines around the lights are silver in color. Generally they should show 5.2. Those silver panels are prone to failure because of corrosion. You could have a switch problem also. Will it start when you switch the service/run switch to service. If not, and the service/run switch is working, then you can eliminate the panel, seat switch and seat belt as possible causes. Even though you are measuring 14V at the battery does not mean you have a good connection between the battery cables and the battery terminal. You should check for a voltage drop while attempting to start. To do this first place one voltmeter test lead on the positive post of the battery and the other probe on a clean metal surface for the ground. Have someone attempt to start. If there is a bad connection the voltage should drop to close to 0V. If the voltage does not drop at all then you need to start looking else where why it is not starting.............With the service/run switch in the service position, power originates at the 15A fuse in the engine fuse compartment. Bottom fuse on the fuse block closest to the engine. From the fuse it goes to the batt terminal of the ign switch. When the switch is turned to the on position power goes to the fuse shut off solenoid through the service/run switch. In the start position power also goes through the service/runs switch and goes to the start relay under the engine fuse panel, outside relay, and when the relay is energized power goes to the starter.

mine is the gold trim. pulled the cluster everything looked fine fuses are ok. I get a continuous beep with the key in the off position it goes away if I change the sevice/run switch to service. Did put a new ignition switch on but didn't make a difference. Don't have any voltage drop when trying to start.

Does it have a seat safety switch or a lap bar safety switch I would look at them maybe a pop can under the seat

In the service position all the electronics are bypassed. Put the service/run switch in the service position to do the following tests. Next you need to remove the cover from the start relay, the outer one under the engine fuse panel. Have someone try and start the engine while you check for power at one of the small terminals of the relay. You should also have power at one of the large terminals continuously. If you have power at the small terminal then the relay is bad or you have a problem with the wire to the starter or the starter itself. If no power you need to go to the service/run switch and see if there is power going to the switch and also power coming out of the switch when attempting to start. If you have power coming out of the switch when trying to start, then you have a wiring problem........As for the lights remaining on in the run position, it might also be the service/run switch, but not sure. I have seen the seat belt switch stick and the lights would remain on and beeping, but that was on a newer model where the power is supplied to the seat belt along with the seat switch. On you machine, power first goes to the seat switch and when you set in the seat power goes to the seat belt. I guess it is possible for the seat switch to be stuck closed sending power continuously back to the instrument panel and seat belt plug. Try unplugging the seat belt and see if that puts the lights out.

which terminals on the switch should be continuous power. the only one getting power is the green wire and only 6 to 7 volts. Why would the battery light flash when the key is off

do the service position bypass the seat switch and seat belt

Let's do one problem at a time. First we need to get it started in the service position. In the service position with the key on, you should have power at the very center terminal and at the LTBL/O wire. When in the start position you should have power at the W wire and the W/DKBL wire. They should all be 12V. You are losing voltage some where. Be sure you have 12v at the ign switch batt terminal. If not you need to find where you are losing voltage. Pull the 15A fuse in the engine fuse panel and check if you have 12v there.

checked the 15a fuse had 12v and was getting 12v at the large terminal on the relay and the 15a fuse blew now it just reads a little over 3v. Where does the wire that runs to the fuse come from?

The power originates at the post on the starter where the battery cable attaches. From there is goes to one of the large terminals on the start relay, where you had 12v. From there a wire goes to the preheat circuit breaker in the engine fuse compartment. The preheat circuit breaker is the circular item above the fuses. From the circuit breaker it goes to the fuse blocks where the 15A fuse is located........At the preheat circuit breaker the power does not go through the circuit breaker to the fuse block. The wire to the fuse block is attached to the terminal with the wire from the start relay. Unbolt the fuse block and take a look behind it and in the openings at the terminals for the fuse.

I got it running. now when you turn it off the seatbelt chime keep going off when you get out of it. Seat switch bad?

Try unplugging the seat belt connector from the seat harness. If that does not stop the alarm, then on the backside of the seat is the connector for the seat harness to the main harness. Unplug that connector and see if that stops it. If it is still going off the instrument panel may be bad. You can remove the instrument panel and check where you have power. You should have power at terminals 14 at all times, 12 with the key on, 11 is either for the seat belt or seat switch, and 4 is for either the seat belt or seat swtich. I am reciting this from memory so may not be quite right....What did you find for the cause of not starting?

finally got back to the skidsteer. I can get it to start now it seems that something is running the battery down. When I shut it off and get out the battery light keeps flashing. I noticed that when it was running the battery was only charging at 12.7v its normally at 13.8 or better I don't know if that would have anything to do with the problem or not. Any ideas?

Time to have the alternator and regulator checked. Could be a bad diode backfeeding current.

Got the alt working. now when I shut it off the battery light and seatbelt light come on and flash but not until I get out of the seat. I noticed that when I sat down in it that the lights didn't come on until I tried to start it. Could a bad seat switch cause all of this? The battery light flashing is the most interesting thing.
