hi all i have a ls180 it has a strange rattle or knock when lifting boom up or down but only when rpm is over 1200 below that rpm no noise,hydraulic oil in normal range.Can normal 10w30 oil be used in hydraulic or can only 10w30 c4 be used thanks .

hmmm...on the rattle or knock sound, honestly, i think everyone would agree that you kind of need to be there to hear and see it to diagnose it. with regards to the hydraulic fluid, if your just topping off i can't see why "regular" 10w30 conventional motor oil wouldn't be fine. actually if your draining and changing the hydraulic oil, i've used regular Napa conventional 10w30 oil, and with my amazement the hydraulics worked! ha! yeah it'll be fine, i just don't like mixing different types of oil, if thats the case i'd drain and begin with fresh stuff

thanks jayjay for the info,i think the rattle maybe the rear door pin has a lot of play in it also the metal cover over the motor has broken welds on it to hold down . I got this skid 5 months ago with only 770hrs haha,had to replace pins and bushings for bucket i guess it has closer to 4000hrs on it but found factory paint covering the old greese fittings where pins wore out so maybe true,thanks again.
