Has anybody tried the Locktite "Quicktape" 249? It's medium strength like the 242 but it goes on like plumbers tape. It sounds like a good deal, without the mess, but I have not tried it yet and would like to learn from others mistakes if at all possible. Also, what does everybody use to degrease before using Locktite? I've heard that some chemicals, like brake disk cleaner, may react with it.

I guess it depends where you plan on using it.
I have used brake cleaner and comressed air without any issues, as long as the solvent dries without any residue, it should be ok as far as i was aware. I have even used petrol/gas as it dries without residue too.

If you can still get the non California compliant formula brake cleaner it will work. The new formula doesn't work as well and will damage any paint it touches.
