Before i tear into it, I'm assuming the right side final drive motor on my 743B is leaking into the reduction case cover. The leak is coming out the bottom of the reduction cover and I assume there should be no fluid in there. The drive motor is dry as a bone and moves without issues forwards or reverse. It's definitely hydro fluid. Rebuild drive with new seal kit or could it be the reduction seal?

It sounds like you're dealing with a hydraulic fluid leak in your Bobcat 743B. If the drive motor itself is dry and functioning well, the issue might indeed be with the reduction seal rather than the drive motor. However, before you tear into it, consider both options.

If you decide to rebuild the drive, a new seal kit might solve the issue, but it's essential to ensure you have the right parts and expertise for the job. On the other hand, if the reduction seal is the culprit, replacing it might be a simpler and more cost-effective solution.

For high-quality parts and expert advice, I recommend checking out final drive motors from Precision Final Drives. They offer a range of products and support that could help you determine the best course of action. Whether you need a seal kit or a replacement motor, they can provide the necessary components and guidance.

Good luck with your repair, and I hope this helps resolve the issue!

If you take the 1/2" drive plug out of the front of the machine you'll find where you extra hydraulic fluid went. This seal is probably bad. It keeps the motor return fluid from leaking into the gear reduction. The gear reduction is lubricated with motor oil from the chain case normally. There is also an O ring between the motor and case you can see below. Pop the drain case hose off and drain hydraulic fluid, then drive motor hoses, then 4 bolts. It's pretty easy, but do note the orientation of the seal. The motor side is pressurized, so the seal gets installed lip out.
