I have a 2007 L170 with a bad engine (hole in the block) and have a line on a L175 that burned but the block and most of the engine is usable and it would be considerably cheaper than a new block and overhaul. I know the L170 has an N844T and the L175 has an N844LT, what I don't know is what the difference is between the two and if I can put the N844LT in the L170 without too many more changes. Thanks for any info.

The L170 and L175 are essentially the same loader except for a few extra hp in the L175. I believe that the N844LT is the Long-stroked version of the N844T. It should fit right in with little, if any, mod.

The LT is taller and longer than the 844T. You willl need to modify motor mounts, use the lt starter and bellhousing. You may also have to bend the plastic neck of the hydro tank so it clears the valve cover. I would be rather concerned about the burn damage to the LT engine. If any of the alum melted on the front cover the parts are not the same on the 844T engine.

Thanks for the info. I'm not partial to doing more work than needed but I could buy the entire L175 for half the price of a reman and cheaper than just the block with me doing the overhaul. Thought I'd see what the difference was between the engines. Thanks again.
