My Thomas T133S with a Kubota V1903. Unit is a 1996 with 1750 hours. I've had it one year and and have put about 20 hours on it during that time.
Today I got the unit out - ran it around the yard, washed it up, etc.
Put the forks on it, picked up a big box (200 pounds) out of the back of my truck. Got the box in to position on the ground, moved the throttle down to idle while I got out of the unit to slide the box off the forks.
Turned away from the machine and when I turned back around smoke was "billowing" out of the exhaust. The unit doesn's smoke - runs very clean.
I got back in the unit, no warning lights (temp or oil), no bad noises, so I quickly parked it and shut it down.
What is the first thing I should check?

I would start with injectors. A bad injector will cause smoke like that.

I would guess if it was white smoke you have a injector popit stuck open and dripping fuel in. Its not uncommon for equipment that sits with water in the fuel to have this issue. Hit it with a good dose of fuel additive/system cleaner . Power service in the white bottle at walmart or something like it.
