John Deere 260 Series 2 Hydraulic Oil Change ?

Hey Guys, I went to my local Deere Dealer to get Hydraulic Fluid in order to service my hydraulic fluid system. They advised me to use regular Engine Oil PLUS 50 in the system rather than the TORQ GUARD SUPREME fluid that I had in mind using. When New , the system had what appeared to be a greenish colored fluid in the system. I have looked in my Operator's Manual & it appears that both are ok to use, but, I have in the past & am having again issues with the Temp sensor acting up. I replaced the original one less than 200 hours ago & it appears that it's time to do that again, I just want to make sure that I use what's best for fluid in the system.. Thank you all for your thoughts.

I have a Deere 318D that uses 10W30 oil in the hydraulic system and have had zero problems with it. My previous machine (Thomas T243HDS) also used 10W30. Unless you live in a warm climate year-round, I would use the 10W30. The typical service interval is 1000 hrs for hyd system vs 200 hrs for engine due to the hyd system doesn't have combustion byproducts. I prefer machines that use engine oil vs 10W hyd oil due to cost savings and availability. If you feel you need to "take it up a notch" you could use synthetic 10W30-cleaner base stock and better viscosity charateristics. Just my 2 cents.

I use a 10w30 skid loader oil made by alpha lubricants wouldnt use anything else
