I acquired a 1978 international 4140 and was wondering were to get manuals , info for it . I'll post pics if allowed, I don't know. I plan to restore next winter. This machine also needs steering motor. Paid $1000.00

Pics would be great, there are some tips in the faq section on how to do so, or emal them to Tazza or myself and we will get them up.

Thanks, I just e-mailed them to you. The back wheels are off cause the neighbor has flat tires on his skidsteer and borrowed these so he could feed his cattle.

There ya go. She "looks" rough with no rear rubber and the spare parts lying around, what does it need?

Thanks for posting pics. She's just barely off warranty (by 30 years). The only thing it really needs is the piston pump. But Lee from loader parts has located two cores. The engine has been overhauled as well as the hyd cylinders. All the parts are there. The back wheels were lent to a neighbor cause he had a flat on the weekend and had to feed the cattle and buffalo. I can hardly wait for my wife to see it in the garage tomorrow when I bring it home !! I may need a place to stay.l

I did not know IH made a skid steer. The controls look, how should I put it.Special maybe?
Seriously, this one is a keeper, If not for the historical value and interest from the "cornbinder fans, but that there looks like you can make it run.
The sentimental attachment I have for IH is caused by a genetic defect that I inherited from my father, who was a large fan of the brand. I also inherited various vehicals some which happen to be the same color as your skid. I hope you do restore it. Scott

I am well into the restoration . I sent both steering pumps , hydraulic pump, control valve, aux control valve to Lee at Loader Parts Source. He is going through all of them ie: seals, o-rings,...whatever you do to them. I took out the radiator to be recored, the starter and alternator out to replace bushings, bearings, and brushes. The hoses look fairly new and the engine had a tune up done before parked. The engine oil and antifreeze were actually CLEAN before machine was parked. The hydraulic cylinders had new seals put in before as well. The skid isn't as big of piece of junk as it seems to look. Sandblast and paint are booked for the last week of April.

Thanks for the picture. Mine had to have been repainted at one time. There are no decals reinstalled. I can't find what color it is actually supposed to be ie: colour code. I may just go with white and black .

Interesting project/find! I am kind of a Binder fan myself. Keep us posted, JEFF

I have a 4130. I found a manual on ebay that i think covers your model. Mine has the onan motor removed and a honda installed. I have had cooling problems but little by little getting them worked out. If you still need info out of the manual email me.
